Rip the Bandage Off

The dread rises as we slowly peel the bandage of what crimes may have been committed in our name. As each layer is pulled off hair by hair the shame and ignominy eat away at our national reputation like rust through an Oldsmobile in a Buffalo, NY winter. We suffer this even if no one did anything wrong, only because we haven't yet come clean. If someone did do something wrong, they should be exposed before the world and publicly carry the shame they transferred to us in secret. I believe that we have to expose what happened down to the metal and then we'll be able to make it look like a brand new one. It will hurt, but at least we'll get it over with, stop the ongoing damage, and rebuild. Bandages will only work when the underlying wound can heal itself in darkness. In this case, the healing must have help to occur in sunlight.
