Election? Today?

I was surprised to learn that the primary election was taking place today, so I had to do some desperate research at the last minute, and I did not even get into the judges. So many names! It's just a primary, but still, I felt like I needed to vote. I was number 92 in my precinct at 6:50 pm.

I have had a sore back that's a little debilitating at the moment, so I think I understand how retired people feel. "I can't run right now, but I'm damn sure going to make a difference somewhere". I hope I did.

Rip the Bandage Off

The dread rises as we slowly peel the bandage of what crimes may have been committed in our name. As each layer is pulled off hair by hair the shame and ignominy eat away at our national reputation like rust through an Oldsmobile in a Buffalo, NY winter. We suffer this even if no one did anything wrong, only because we haven't yet come clean. If someone did do something wrong, they should be exposed before the world and publicly carry the shame they transferred to us in secret. I believe that we have to expose what happened down to the metal and then we'll be able to make it look like a brand new one. It will hurt, but at least we'll get it over with, stop the ongoing damage, and rebuild. Bandages will only work when the underlying wound can heal itself in darkness. In this case, the healing must have help to occur in sunlight.

Here It Comes

The much rumored 'Jesus Tablet' is reportedly set to be announced January 27th. The rumors are crazy as usual, and even include the possibility that the screen will have some sort of bumps so that you can feel the windows and buttons displayed. I say, 'so what if it does?'. I want my contacts, To-Do list, andphone all synchronized automatically so that I don't have to worry about keeping my machines straight. I really don't see how a tablet that's say 10 x 7 could be more useful for my needs than an iPhone.

But the fun comes from waiting to see what Apple can do that I never dreamed of. I don't anticipate getting a tablet computer, but you can convince me I need one if you can show me a killer app.

Executive Function

Before I got into High School they tried to teach me how to manage my time so I could get everything done. There was talk of scheduling and prioritizing and making sure that assignments got done early. Unfortunately, school was so easy for me that I didn't need to bother. I had other, more pressing problems than homework, and I just banged that out, anyway.

Now, so many years later, I wish that I had listened better and given organizing myself some effort. I have so many things to do now that I literally don't have time: errands to run, things around the house, laundry, exercise - as well as the all-important task of watching tv late and then sleeping in. I don't have the executive function that I need to get everything done, things fall by the wayside, and I get dissatisfied.

Worse, it seems that my usual bad habit of getting distracted by a bright and shiny object that catches the light so nicely and wow, look at that rainbow. What did I come into this room for? Executive function, distracted, oh yeah. So it seems that I am getting distracted more easily now than ever before and it's harder to get my mind back on track. Lists and organization have become even more important and I'm paying the price for not investing in my own executive function.

Back At It?

Sorry for the lag. I plan to start pecking away at this again after two years of inactivity. I hope to keep this interesting to myself and hopefully interest a couple of other people, too. Sure, this terse post is not the best way to start, but we'll see how it goes.
